Our goal is to continue to make swimming and diving fun. Given most clubs are not hosting swim teams this year we will be splitting our team into two parts for split squad competitions & maintaining safety and social distancing. There may be opportunities for virtual swim meets. But as for now we will only have inner-squad competitions.
We will offer 3 sessions:
- 9am to 9:45am
- 10am - 10:45am
- 11am - 11:45am
The sessions will be grouped by age. Our age group categories are 8 and under, 9 & 10, & 11 and up.
We will be running 8 lanes at the first two sessions and 6 lanes at the third session to accommodate another group that must use the pool. Due to the lower number of lanes in the third session, we will determine which age groups will swim each session once enrollment is mostly completed. Once numbers are in, we will place the age group with fewer swimmers in the third session. This will be determined by June 19th.
We also must have a certain level of enrollment to run the swim and dive programs this year (60 aquatic participants). At the same time, we are capping our programs this year. We are only allowing 18 divers and 26 swimmers per session for a total of 54 divers and 76 swimmers in an effort to maintain social distancing.
Practices will be Monday through Thursday for 5 weeks starting June 22nd and ending July 23rd. We will continue to have a focus stroke each week as we do during regular season: Back, Breast, Butterfly, Free Style, IM.
We will follow Washtenaw County's Health Department stipulation that there will be no passing within a lane. This will help with distancing the swimmers.
